How to make elderflower cordial

Elderflower Cordial Recipe

Remove stems from the elderflowers. The stems are toxic so you want to remove as many as possible. You can opt to use dried elderflowers that have had the stems previously removed to make this easier. Place these flowers in a large bowl.

Zest then juice the lemons and add to the large bowl with the elderflowers.

Bring sugar and water to a simmer stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Remove from heat and let cool until safe to touch temperature has been reached.

Pour sugar syrup over the flowers and lemon.

Stir well and cover with a towel.

Let sit for 3 to 4 days to allow the sugar syrup to ferment.

Serve 1 to 3 tablespoons at a time mixes with water, wine, or elderflower lemonade. You can opt to add this to other alcohol for a mixed cocktail.
